ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:Bone marrow mesenchyme stem cells are important non-hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow, which can stimulate angiogenesis. While, Slit can also stimulate angiogenesis, as many studies have proved. OBJECTIVE:To review the biological functions, clinical application and effects of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and Slit2 on promoting angiogenesis. METHODS:A computer-based online research of CNKI and PubMed databases was performed to col ect articles published between 1980 and 2014 with the keywords“MSCs”and“Slit2”in Chinese and English. There were 436 articles after the initial survey. Final y, 65 articles were included according inclusion and exclusion criteria. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Both bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and Slit2 play an important role in promoting angiogenesis, but the relevance of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and Slit2 is stil controversial. If assuming that bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells secrete Slit2, more researches should be done to reveal whether bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells promoting angiogenesis is relevant to Slit2 and through which signaling pathway Slit2/Robo functions to adjust bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells thus to promote angiogenesis. If relevant, the transplantation of the Slit2 and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells wil be a promising treatment of cerebral infarction and other central nervous injuries.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the changes of fecal short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) and bile acid levels in patients with colon cancer. Methods Totally 189 patients with colon cancer (CC group),201 patients with adenomatous polyp (AP group),and 512 healthy patients (control group) who were confirmed by endoscopy were included in this study. The fecal SCFA and bile acid levels were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Results The total bile acids, primary bile acids, and secondary bile acids were not significantly different among these three groups (P > 0.05).The chenodeoxycholate level in the CC group [0.338 (0.101,0.416) mg/g] was significandy higher than that in AP group [0.241 (0.108,0.375) mg/g] and control group [0.248 (0.110,0.371) mg/g] (P=0.025,P=0.023),but was not significantly different between the AP groupand the control group (P > 0.05).The deoxycholic acid level in CC group [0.375 (0.136,0.503) mg/g] and AP group [0.369 (0.113,0.494) mg/g] were significandy higher than that in control group [0.277 (0.115,0.412) mg/g] (P=0.026,P=0.024),and the difference between CC group and AP group was not statistically significant (P > 0.05).The level of lithocholic acid in CC group [0.386 (0.147,0.507) mg/g] was significantly higher than those in the AP group [0.103 (0.012,0.238) mg/g] and control group [0.239 (0.081,0.405) rng/g] (P=0.011,P=0.027); also, its level in AP group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P =0.022).The levels of total short-chain fatty acids, acetic acid, propionic acid, and isovaleric acid were not significantly different among the control group,AP group, and CC group (P>0.05).The levels of butyrate [0.105 (0.059,0.198) mg/g,0.090 (0.050,0.183) mg/g],isobutyl acid [0.036 (0.024,0.046) mg/g,0.025 (0.020,0.034) mg/g] in CC group and AP group were significantly higher than in the control group [0.081 (0.051,0.107) mg/g,0.021 (0.016,0.029) mg/g] (butyrate:P=0.026,P=0021; isobutyl acid:P=0.025,P=0.019),and the difference between CC group and AP group was statistically significant (butyrate:P =0.031; isobutyl acid:P =0.024).Conclusions Fetal chenodeoxycholic acid, lithocholic acid, butyric acid, and isobutyric acid may play a role in the developmem of colon cancer, while deoxycholic acid may also be implicated in both colon cancer and colon adenomas. No association is found between other SCFA and bile acids and colorectal cancer/adenoma.

ABSTRACT

@# Intrathecal (I. T.)administration of K opioid dynorphin A (1-17) is used as a model of neurological dysfunction which lnvolved in spinal cord injury and secondary affection according to several previous reports. 5-amlno-2-phosphoveroleric acid (APV ), an NMDA receptor antagonist, can significantlly prevent the hindlimb paralysis in rats produced by I. T. dynorPhin A (1-17). To further investigate the mechanisms, we establis11 a nlodel of [3H]L,-Glu release in rats spinal slices influenced by dynorphin A (dynA ) (1-17). [3H]L-Glu release evoked by high [K+] (5Ommol/L,)is a Ca2+-dependent process. DynA (1-17) slgnificantly inhibited [3H]L,-Glu release at 1O-8mol/L,, but very significantly enhanced [3H]L-Glu release at 10-6 mol /L. The synthetic k agonist U50, 488H, which has no neurotoxic effect, inhibited [3H]L-Glu release at both high and low concentrations and did not have any enhancing effect. The results suggest that the analgesic effect of dynA (1-17) at physiological dosage may be rnediated by presynaptic K opioid receptor through the inhibition of Ca2+ influx and L-Glu release;but dynA (1-l7)enhanced L-Glu release through a non-opioid pathway and induced hindlimb paralysis at high neurotoxic dosage.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the imaging features of breast cancer by CR mammography,in order to improve the diagnostic level. Methods The CR mamographic features of 37 patients with breast cancer confirmed surgically and pathologically were analysed retrospectively. Results In the 37 cases of breast cancer, the following abnormal signs were found in CR mammograms: mass(n=29),without mass(n=8),calcification(n=15),abnormal vascularity(n=7),inverted nipple(n=6),thickened skin(n=3),sign of tower's tine(n=3),sign of funnel(n=1),focal structural disorder and small focus of increased density(n=3). Conclusion The masses and calcificationsare the main radiological features in breast cancer,CR mammography may show the characteristics of breast cancer,it is one of the mosteffective means in diagnosis of breast cancer.

ABSTRACT

Objective To improve the knowledge and diagnostic ability of imagiology of NRDS.Methods The clinical data and X-ray features in 20 cases with NRDS who had complete materials were analysed. Results According to X-ray manifestations all cases were divided into four stages:Ⅰ stage(n=3),Ⅱ stage (n=5),Ⅲ stage (n=8) and Ⅳ stage (n=4).Of them, three cases were in company with aspiration pneumonia, four cases with infective pneumonia, five cases with air leak and two cases with intra-alveolar hemorrhage.Typical X-ray features included:the pulmonary lucency decreased,wide-ranging net and grain shadowes of high density, and in companing with a lot of air bronchus sign. Conclusion X-ray plain film, especially computed radiography is the most important imaging method in diagnosis of NRDS.
